Green Is Everywhere

While driving Max to his dog sitter, from our home in Monterey Heights through Sunset to the Richmond District, and crossing Golden Gate Park, gives me plenty of opportunities to see the trees covered with green leaves – almost overnight.

Online I found an answer – why leaves are green. The green color also has a connection with March 17thSt. Patrick’s Day. The Irish have observed this day as a religious holiday for over 1,000 years. However, the first St. Patrick’s Day Parade took place not in Ireland, but in America. This happened on March 17, 1601, in what is now St. Augustine, Florida. Today, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated around the world.

This Year, the 17th Annual San Francisco St. Patrick’s Day Parade was celebrated on March 12th. I was not there, but I did observe it in 2014, when I encountered the color green not only on the leaves.
